Why November works for a challenge

Pick one challenge, or two small ones at most. Three to five rules you can answer with a yes or no each evening are enough.

Seven November challenge ideas

1. No Spend November

Essentials only for the month: bills, groceries from a list, medicine and the transport you need, and nothing else unless you planned it. It is the most practical idea on this list, because what you do not spend in November can go straight into a December budget. The hard part is the last week: Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday all fall inside it, so write your exceptions and your sale plan on the contract before November 1.

2. 30-day push-up challenge

A daily push-up total that climbs over the month, with rest days built in. It takes a few minutes a day, needs no equipment and gives you a clear number to beat on day 30. It suits people who want a strength habit without a gym. If you are new to push-ups, start with wall, incline or knee push-ups; big monthly totals such as 2,000 push-ups are for people who can already do 20 or more in a set.

3. November gratitude challenge

A few minutes each evening writing down what went right. It fits the month of Thanksgiving, costs nothing and is easy to keep on a busy day. Research suggests the effect on well-being is real but small on average, so treat it as a pleasant habit rather than a fix. A daily prompt keeps the entries from repeating.

4. 30-day fitness challenge

Daily movement with recovery built in: walks, a short bodyweight circuit and stretching, with a little more each week. It is the broadest fitness option here and the better choice if push-ups alone feel too narrow, or if you are getting back into exercise and want a routine before the year ends. Darker evenings in November make a fixed time of day more important than usual.

5. No sugar challenge

Thirty days without added sugar. In November this is a real test: Halloween leftovers at the start, and holiday baking and Thanksgiving dessert at the end. It suits people who reach for something sweet out of habit. Decide before you start whether Thanksgiving is a planned exception, and write it down; that is easier than arguing with yourself at the table.

6. Daily writing challenge

November has a long association with writing challenges: National Novel Writing Month popularized the idea of drafting 50,000 words of a novel in November. That is about 1,667 words a day, which is a lot alongside a job. A smaller daily target that you keep for 30 days is a perfectly good November writing challenge too, whether it is fiction, a blog or a journal. There is no dedicated template for it; the custom builder handles it.

7. Daily drawing challenge

A sketch a day for 30 days. Drawing challenges are popular in October, and November is a good month to keep a calmer version going, or to start one with no list of themes at all. Fifteen minutes is enough; the point is the daily habit, not a finished piece. Date every drawing so you can compare day 1 with day 30. This one also uses the custom builder.

How to set up a November challenge here

  1. Choose a template. Each link above opens the contract builder with rules already filled in and November 1 as the start date. Change anything, add your name and sign.
  2. Print the calendar. Printing gives you the signed contract plus a 30-day calendar with a box for each rule on every day.
  3. Check in every evening. The daily tracker shows your streak and your perfect days. If you miss a day, the rule is never miss twice.

Questions

What are good November challenges?

Popular 30-day challenges for November include No Spend November, a 30-day push-up challenge, a gratitude challenge, a 30-day fitness challenge, a no sugar challenge, and daily writing or drawing. Pick one with a few rules you can answer with yes or no each evening.

When does a November challenge start and end in 2026?

November 2026 runs from Sunday, November 1 to Monday, November 30, which is 30 days. A 30-day challenge started on November 1 ends on November 30.

Can I do two November challenges at once?

You can, if both are small, for example a gratitude journal and a push-up target that each take a few minutes. Starting two demanding challenges at once makes both harder to keep, so add the second one only if the first feels easy after a week.

Is there a free November challenge tracker?

Yes. Challenge Contract is free and needs no account. Each template makes a signed contract, a printable 30-day calendar, a lock-screen wallpaper and a daily tracker that stores your check-ins only in your browser.

What if I start after November 1?

Start today. Either finish on November 30 with the days that remain, or run a full 30 days into December. Write the dates you choose into your contract so the finish line is clear.
